This morning we spent a few hours in San Francisco’s Park Presidio, at the 16th Annual Aloha Festival. A couple years ago, we were also here for the first time. My daughter and her dance group, Merahi O Tehani, participated and performed at the festival. This year festival’s crowd didn’t seem to be as big as the one we attended in the past. Maybe the weather had something to do with the seemingly lower attendance. It was so cold and wet (misty) all day we were there. The kids were performing really well, as usual. Tahiti Fete 2010

4th of July weekend was, once again, Tahiti Fete week (http://www.tahitifete.com). My daughter’s halau (Merahi O Tehani) participated in tamarii (children) division for group competition. Some dancers also competed in solo competition. We did not win any medal this time, but those kids did excellent. Their hard work in months of tireless practises really showed during competition.

Japantown Island Jam 2008

Presented by the Japanese Community Youth Council (http://www.jcyc.org/), a non-profit organization based in San Francisco’s Japantown, Japantown Island Jam included contemporary Hawaiian entertainment, children activities, and unique food. It took place in the Buchanan Mall. Besides the Jam activities, at the same time, there’s also Japantown Art & Craft festival going on.
