Aloha Fest., San Francisco, 2010

AlohaFest2010-28.jpg

This morning we spent a few hours in San Francisco’s Park Presidio, at the 16th Annual Aloha Festival. A couple years ago, we were also here for the first time.  My daughter and her dance group, Merahi O Tehani, participated and performed at the festival.  This year festival’s crowd didn’t seem to be as big as the one we attended in the past.  Maybe the weather had something to do with the seemingly lower attendance.   It was so cold and wet (misty) all day we were there. The kids were performing really well, as usual.  Please enjoy the complete photo album: http://daudfam.net/gallery/v/2010/AlohaFestival2010/.

As we passed the Holy Ramadhan to purify the deepest soul,it is time to emabrace the triumph with all forgiveness and happiness.  Happy Eid Al Fitri.

Today we went to Fort Mason in San Francisco.  Sholat (prayer) for Eid took place in Golden Gate Room.  Leading the prayer was Ustadz Adi while the preach was given by Dr. KH Atabik Lutfi.  After Sholat, everybody rushed to the residence of Indonesian Consul, Wisma Indonesia, on Scott Street for Halal Bil Halal. A gathering to celebrate the day and to feast on traditional Eid Al Fitri dishes.

Complete pictures are posted in the Idul Fitri 1430H album.

A night at the drive inn theater

Still spring break for the little one.  Yesterday evening we took the kids to watch movies at the Capitol Drive Inn Theater in San Jose.  This is the last surviving drive inn theater in our area, may be even in the region.  This place also is a public (flea) markets during the day (Fri-Sun), http://www.westwindpublicmarkets.com/.  Kids under 11 can watch free.  $6.75/adult.  We watched two movies.  The first one is Hanna Montana the Movie and the second one is Race to Witch Mountain.  Obviously, the first movie is not for us the parents ;)   Race to Witch Mountain with The Rock is not too bad.

Discovery Kingdom

10000

This week is Spring Break for our younger daughter.  This morning we took her and three of her friends to Discovery Kingdom (http://www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/index.aspx).  We bought the tickets (entrance and parking) through BeyondWork (http://beyondwork.com/v0_edshome.jsp) at a very good discount.  We did not get to see every show offered at the theme park but we managed to go on all the rides.  Discovery Kingdom used to be called Marine World before Six Flags bought it.  It’s a very unique theme park that features a combination of animal sanctuary and amusement park.

Everytime we went to the park, we almost always close the day with a dinner at Annie’s Panda Garden (http://www.anniepandagarden.com/).  The restaurant is just about 1 mile away.  Yelp’s reviewers give the restaurant 4 stars, http://www.yelp.com/biz/annies-panda-garden-vallejo.  We would rate it 4 stars too for convenient location relative to the park and decent food.

Pictures are in the Discovery Kingdom’s album.

Jessica Birthday Party

Saturday we had a party at home to celebrate Jessica’s birthday.  She had a few of her friends came over.  We also invited some of our closest family’s friends.  It was a nice gathering and we have posted pictures in our photo gallery (http://daudfam.net/v/2009/jessica_bday/).
